Course Description

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is offered by the Office of Continuing Professional Development in conjunction with the Center for Advanced Clinical Learning at the University of South Florida College of Medicine.  This course is based on the most current American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines.  ACLS at the University of South Florida integrates the current AHA guidelines with high fidelity simulation training.  The course consists of didactic classes as well as hands on skills testing in our simulation center. With utilization of high fidelity simulation models cases may be recorded to provide feedback to improve a student's performance. (Students participating in video taping will be required to sign a photo release. Images will not be used for profit but for the benefit of students and to further advance research and patient outcomes.) This course is designed for physicians, nurses, and other experienced healthcare providers.  USF offers both the 2 day ACLS certification (13.5 hours with breaks) course and the 1 day ACLS renewal course (9 hours with breaks).

The AHA ACLS 1 day renewal course may only be taken by a provider who has current ACLS provider card on the date of the course.  Providers who have a lapsed card or who have not taken ACLS before will be required to attend the 2 day course.
