COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides federal employees with pertinent information regarding OSHA requirements and guidelines applicable to construction industry activities and operations. The goal of the course is to help participants gain an awareness level necessary to be able to describe major construction hazards and prevention strategies.
Topics include the recognition of major safety and health hazards in the construction industry, prevention strategies which include safety and health management systems, OSHA requirements and guidelines, and resources available. The course is set up as a facilitated, interactive training session focusing on class discussion and group activities. It is a two-day course, consisting of 12 hours of instruction.
Although this course was developed for federal employees, private sector industry personnel are also encouraged to attend for an overview of the construction industry focus four hazards.
his training will enable the participant to describe major construction hazards and prevention strategies, specifically the student will be able to:
- Describe major safety hazards in the construction industry
- Describe major health hazards in the construction industry
- Describe prevention strategies based on OSHA standards and guidelines
- Utilize resources available that support construction industry safety
