March 4-6, 2011
The Peabody Hotel, Orlando, FL

Sponsored by

Course Description

This symposium will address contemporary medical research and techniques related to the key hormones of the growth hormone secretory axis (IGF-1, GH and Ghrelin/GHS) and explore the genetics, basic research and clinical applications of these hormones across a wide clinical spectrum.  Topics will address new developments in structure and function and translation of these compounds in clinical conditions in both children and adults. Faculty will include 44 renowned speakers from around the world.

Target Audience

This program is for physicians, researchers (basic and clinical) and allied healthcare professionals who have an interest in the growth hormone secretory axis.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
  • Assess the importance of IGF-1 and growth hormone in conditions affecting children and adults
  • Compare and contrast the current and emerging treatment options of IGF-1, GH and Ghrelin
  • Integrate an increased awareness of when to screen children and adults for hormonal levels to exclude or diagnose a variety of medical conditions, as well as treatment of various medical disorders including patients with GH deficiency
  • Analyze the clinical knowledge basis of future research of these hormones or their agonists and antagonists in the possible treatment and relationships to diabetes, cancer, obesity, cachexia and eating disorders
  • Communicate genetic information and research as well as novel clinical research related to the entire GH secretory axis (hypothalamic-pituitary and target organ hormone interactions)
