Statement to Clarify that the USF Certificate
Program is separate from
AHCA Health Care Risk Management Licensure
This on-line course is now an approved educational program by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, pursuant to Rule 59A.037 F.AC.
I understand that upon successful completion of the Health Care Risk Management Certificate Program offered by the University of South Florida, I will receive a certificate from USF that will be forwarded to the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) in Tallahassee, Florida. Completion of this course meets the State of Florida AHCA 120 Hour Educational Program Licensure Criteria (FAC, CH 59A-10.037)* and satisfies part of the requirements for licensure.
Licensure as a Health Care Risk Manager under Florida Law is only granted by application to the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Information on the education and experience criteria for Health Care Risk Manager Licensure by the State of Florida can be obtained from the Licensure section, Hospital and Outpatient Services Unit, Agency for Health Care Administration at (850) 487-2717 or through their website at http://ahca.myflorida.com/MCHQ/Health_Facility_Regulation/Risk/index.shtml.
Professionals eligible for licensure are registered nurses, administrators, radiology technicians, emergency med technicians, pharmacists, physicians, podiatrists, respiratory therapists, attorneys, chiropractors and others, depending on education and experience. Please check with licensure unit to determine if your education and experience qualify you for licensure.
In addition to satisfying the AHCA 120 Hour Educational Program Licensure Criteria this course has been planned and implemented in accordance with the essentials and standards of the accreditation council for continuing medical education through the joint sponsorship of the University of South Florida College of Medicine and Training Academy on Aging. The University of South Florida College of Medicine is accredited by the accreditation council for continuing medical education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
For Physicians: The University of South Florida College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 120 credit hours. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
For Nurses: This activity for 144 contact hours is provided by The University of South Florida College of Nursing, which is accredited by as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Each nurse should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
