HIV and Co-Morbidity
- Examine drug interactions between commonly prescribed HIV
Anti-retrovirals and medications prescribed for co-morbid conditions
which can result in inadequate therapeutic concentrations
- Review alternative medications that allow optimized therapeutic benefits, regardless of co-morbidities or co-infections
- Recognize the importance of prioritizing care for HIV patients with
co-infections and/or co-morbid conditions
Therapeutic selection for first line, second line and highly experienced patients
- Offer patients maximum therapeutic benefits by considering the factors that
influence choices in first- and second-line therapy, as well as the issues that
affect success and durability of therapy
- Achieve successful viral suppression in treatment experienced patients by
considering the reasons for virologic failure when designing an optimal
therapeutic strategy
- Interpret data on novel therapeutic options to better identify patients who
will benefit from new choices in HIV management
HIV and hepatitis-C Co-Infection
- Identify populations at highest risk for HIV and hepatitis C infection
- Determine the main barriers to care and prevent gaps in services
