Course Description
 

This conference will provide participants with knowledge related to feasible and relevant strategies to integrate research findings and evidence into practice, to enhance organizational strategies for sustaining environments supportive of research and evidence-based practice, and to examine transformational models of care. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to exchange research initiatives and agendas with current and future Magnet Hospitals to gain increasing collaborative research opportunities.

 



Call for Abstracts
 

Purpose: The Florida Magnet Nursing Research Conference provides an opportunity for nurses from Magnet and other Hospitals to present completed research. Presentations will be selected on the basis of scientific merit by means of blind review. Additionally, the opportunity for nurses to display both completed research activities and research in progress through poster presentations to colleagues is offered.

Topics of interest are:

  • Research with acknowledgement of IRB approval
  • Best Practice at the Point of Care
  • Integrated literature reviews

Guidelines for Submission: Abstracts for both presentations and posters must be submitted in Word in 12 font Times New Roman and emailed by November 17, 2008. Selected abstracts will be reproduced for conference proceedings. Therefore, this abstract must be camera-ready and follow format guidelines. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words in length.

  1. 1. Format guidelines: use the following subheadings-purpose, method, findings and discussion.
  2. 2. Send one copy with title, author, and institutional information as a header followed by the abstract.
  3. 3. Send one copy of the abstract which includes ONLY the title (for blind review) and the abstract.
Guidelines for Authors:
  1. Each first author can be selected for only one paper and/or one poster (i.e., one in each category).
  2. The primary presenter (the individual who will actually present the research paper or poster) must:
    1. REGISTER FOR THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR OWN TRANSPORTATION, LODGING, AND ANNUAL CONFERENCE REGISTRATION FEES.
    2. Give permission for duplication of abstracts for inclusion in Conference proceedings.

Target Audience
 

Nurses and other health care providers, researchers, administrators, and educators interested in nursing research and evidence-based nursing practice.

 



Objectives
 

Participants attending this conference will be able to:

  1. Analyze relevant and feasible strategies for integrating and sustaining clinical inquiry and evidence based health care practices in the patient care setting.
  2. Compare and contrast program evaluation methods and outcomes with research methods and outcomes.
  3. Assess the utilization of national databases for shared governance initiatives.
  4. Examine findings and outcomes of selected nursing studies for their translation to care practices at the bedside.
  5. Engage in networking opportunities to increase knowledge of evidence-based practice linking research to practice.
 



Accreditation
 

Nurses: The University of South Florida College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. The pre-conference activity is for 2.5 contact hours. The main conference activity is for 8.25 contact hours.

The University of South Florida reserves the right to cancel this program due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of such cancellation, the full registration fee will be returned.

The special group rate of $219.00 is offered for
single/double occupancy for our meeting. Each additional
adult is $20. This rate is subject to applicable
taxes currently at 13% and a resort fee of $15 per
room daily. This group rate will be available three days
prior to and following the official meeting dates, subject

Parking
Parking fees for conference attendees are currently $12.00 per day for self-parking and $18 per day for valet parking.
