Description |
| |
Are you sick because you are depressed or are you depressed because you are sick? The answer is ‘yes’, for not only does mood impact the immune system, but the inner workings of the brain can be profoundly impacted by an active immune system. You are invited to become a charter member of the one of the most relevant annual symposiums ever offered to health care practitioners on the subject of mind and body. Frontiers in Psychoneuroimmunology 2008: The Emotional Interface, will bring together the nation’s top researchers who are examining the bi-directional pathways between the brain and immune system and the subsequent connections with health and disease. Topics will include all aspects of the field from stress and immunity to the global health implications of PNI research. Learn about the links between emotions and cancer, the involvement of the immune system in fibromyalgia, and the impact distress, sleep and fatigue have upon the immune system. You’ll also learn of exciting new research revealing that infection and inflammation can trigger changes in the brain—and significant behavioral and health consequences.
This symposium will provide what nurses and front-line health care providers have been asking for: a national symposium that begins with a full day pre-conference training program in meditation, before two days of evidence based research revealing the extensive links between the brain and immune system. This program will impact your own health as well as that of your patients and clients. |

The Healing Power of Meditation ™: Stress Reduction through Focused Awareness
Meditation is now becoming one of the fastest growing tools for stress reduction and self-healing. Dr. Susan Taylor will bring together Eastern and Western views of health and disease into a result oriented meditation/stress reduction training. Participants will learn basic techniques that can be incorporated into western protocols and will discover how to bridge the gap between meditation practice and science. This course targets those who want to learn the science of meditation as a stress reduction model to enhance their professional practice. The techniques learned may be used to augment the participants’ own health, and serve as a resource to establish programs for patients at hospitals and other health care facilities.
