| Course Description |
Saturday, Multiple Sclerosis (MS): This course is designed to enhance
the skills of neurologists in diagnosing and treating MS, and to increase
awareness of emerging therapies. The epidemiological evidence for
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) as a cause or aggravating factor of MS and
the potential impact of this association upon treatment will be discussed.
Sunday, Parkinson Disease (PD): Since PD is a common disorder
with many treatments, this course will address the proper diagnosis
of PD and its mimickers, as well as how to treat PD with medications.
Various neuroimaging modalities and their uses in parkinsonism,
neuroprotection, and cutting-edge surgical therapy will be examined. |

| Target Audience |
|
The program has been designed for neurologists, neurology residents
PAs, ARNPs and NPs. It will also be relevant to those involved in
patient care with MS and PD Centers and advocacy groups. |

| Objectives |
| Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to: |
- Evaluate contemporary approaches to refractory cases
of MS and the emerging therapies in MS
- Analyze the epidemiological rationales for the role
of EBV in the etiology of MS
- Interpret the immunological observations supporting
the implication of active EBV as the cause of MS
- Interpret the role of neuroprotection in PD and develop
a differential diagnosis and basic treatment plan
- Appropriately use various neuroimaging modalities
in the diagnosis and treatment of parkinsonian syndromes
- Determine the need for surgical treatment of PD

The group rate listed for hotel and villas are for the nights of July 11-12, 2008 for one room per participant.

Rates are presently subject to a 6.5% South Carolina state tax and 5% local taxes (total of 11.5% – taxes
are subject to change). The maximum occupancy at Kiawah is two (2) adults per bedroom. Children
under the age of 18, when accompanied by an adult and staying in the same room, are free of charge.
Check-in time is 4:00 pm. Check-out time is 12:00 pm (Sanctuary) and 10:30 am (Villas). Group
members staying in their rooms beyond the checkout time without Kiawah authorization will be
charged all applicable room charges and fees.
CUT OFF DATE FOR RESERVATIONS is June 11, 2008. After this date rooms are on a space available
basis at prevailing rates.
*Group rate for the two days before July 11th and two days after July 12th. These fees include amenities
which will be explained when you register.

Driving Directions:
From the North: From I-95 South, approach the Charleston area on I-20 East and then onto I-526 West. Follow I- 526 to Highway 17 South, travel approximately 5 miles and turn left onto Main Road. Follow the signs to Kiawah Island.
From the South: Follow I-95 North to US-17 North (Charleston- Exit 33). Travel 52 miles on US-17, then turn right onto Main Road. Follow the signs to Kiawah Island.
From Charleston International Airport: Upon exiting the airport, turn right onto I-526 West towards Savannah. I-526 will end in approximately six miles. Turn right onto US-17 South. Travel about 5 miles and turn left onto Main Road. Follow the signs to Kiawah Island.
