Upon completion of this program, the participant should be able to: |
- Outline recent updates in advanced
cardiac life support.
- Apply the latest guidelines pertaining to
the diagnosis and treatment of hospital
and community acquired infections.
- Formulate and integrate an evidencebased
approach to improve pain control
in the acute setting.
- Identify effective strategies for maximizing
successful outcomes in the stroke patient.
- Explain the role of lipid therapy in
acute medical illness.
- Describe effective strategies for the
management of hyperglycemia in
the hospital.
- Describe the latest advances in the
treatment of venous thromboembolism.
- Summarize current approaches to
the management of hyponatremia.
- Diagnose and treat COPD in the hospital.
- Identify specific issues and challenges
associated with the care of the elderly
in the acute setting.
- Interpret common heart rhythms and
abnormal EKG patterns.
- Incorporate ethical principles into end-oflife
decision making.
- Evaluate effective strategies for managing
acute congestive heart failure.
- Appropriately utilize cardiac CT in the
evaluation of chest pain.
