Course Description
 

This course is designed to provide the orthopaedic sugeon with a comprehensive update on the latest state-of-the-art techniques in the management of orthopaedic trauma including fracture management, nailing, arthroplasty, soft tissue trauma, knee trauma, and bone graft substitutes among others. A distinguished faculty will present their experience, techniques and pearls of wisdom regarding current treatments and procedures available to trauma surgeons. Ample question and answer sessions will be provided.

 



Target Audience
 

Orthopaedic surgeons, fellows, residents, nurses, physician assistants and any other health care professional involved with orthopaedic surgery.

 



Objectives
 

Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize future technological advances in fracture treatment.
  • Identify orthopedic trauma conditions including fractures and dislocations as well as severe soft tissue injuries caused by traumatic events.
  • Debate the merits of nails versus plates in the repair of fractures.
  • Apply innovative methods of assessment and management of various shoulder and elbow problems and foot and ankle problems.
  • Summarize practical clinical information aimed at improving diagnostic and management skills.
  • Discover the use of bone graft substitutes in managing and repairing fractures.
  • Discuss actual cases of various traumatic injuries and their management.

Physician: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the University of South Florida College of Medicine and UAB School of Medicine, Department of Surgery. The University of South Florida College of Medicine reserves the right to cancel these seminars due to unforeseen circumstances. In the case of cancellation, a full refund will be given to participants. The USF COM will not be responsible for travel expenses incurred by the participant due to the seminar cancellation.

Refund Policy
Registration fees will be refunded minus a cancellation fee of $75.00 until July 15, 2008 with written notification. No refunds will be made on or after July 16, 2008. The University of South Florida Office of Continuing Professional Development (USF OCPD) reserves the right to cancel the program due to unforeseen circumstances, in which case the full enrollment fee will be refunded. The University of South Florida is not responsible for travel expenses incurred by the participants if the course is cancelled
