| Course Description |
|
This course is designed to identify and address relevant medical issues targeting the soccer athlete. This information will be presented through scientific paper presentations, discussion, question and answer, illustrative case presentations and debate.The course will focus on wrist injuries, lateral ankle reconstruction, chiropractic care, eye injuries and care, functional movement screening (FMS), training stress using heart rate monitors, muscle injury assessment and treatment, and practical applications of the FMS and heart rate monitors for injury prevention and rehabilitation. |

| Target Audience |
|
|
This educational activity has been designed for orthopaedic surgeons, primary care physicians, psychologists, certified athletic trainers, physical therapists and other professionals who care for soccer athletes in the sports medicine setting.

| Objectives |
|
Upon completion of this educational activity, learners should be able to:
- Identify and evaluate recent research in the field of orthopaedic and primary care sports medicine.
- Describe, evaluate and implement diagnostic, surgical, non-surgical and other therapies specific to soccer sports medicine.
- Identify relevant problems that occur in the soccer population.
- Identify, discuss and apply strategies to improve outcomes in the soccer athlete.

Physicians: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the USF Health and Major League Soccer (MLS) Medical Committee.
