Course Description
 

Dedicated to a multi-disciplinary approach for addressing the current and sometime controversial issues for the team physician including the political, ethical, and financial aspects of setting the stage to further relationships between teams and team physicians. This symposium will provide first-hand insight into areas beyond the traditional role of the team physician. The objectives of this unique program are to understand and avoid pitfalls facing Team Physicians, develop better methods to build relationships with teams, comprehend the issues surrounding team physicians such as ethics and identify key medical issues that impact the role of the team physician.

 



Call for Abstracts

The submission of abstracts is an invitation for a poster presentation. This conference
offers an opportunity to share your work and experiences with colleagues on the
development of successful, creative or new approaches to issues in Sports Medicine.

Who Should Submit?
The interdisciplinary team of health professionals who work with teams, athletes and
their families including but not limited to:
Physicians, Physician Assistants, Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Team Administrators, Nurse Practitioners

POSTERS SHOULD FOCUS ON ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:

  1. Communication (internal to a team, external to physicians, management
    or other team personnel)
  2. Current Trends
  3. Clinical Challenges
  4. Clinical Tips and Tricks
  5. Administrative Tips and Tricks
  6. Decision-Making
  7. Data/outcomes

  1. Abstract applications must be received electronically, no later than December 15, 2007. If you cannot submit electronically, please contact Paula Neal at 813-974-7542 to make appropriate arrangements. Please visit the web site www.cme.hsc.usf.edu/ to download application form.
  2. Only the primary author will be listed in the syllabus; additional authors may be listed in the heading of the abstract.
  3. The abstract should conform to the following guidelines:
    a. Title
    b. Author Name(s) – provide first name, middle initial (optional), last name, and degree(s) for each author.
    c. The abstract should include:
      • Statement of the problem
      • Statement of program, activities or methods
      • Summary of results or effects
      • Implications
      • Institution / agency where research or project was performed
      • Bibliographic references, if appropriate

Abstracts Accepted or Poster Session

  1. The abstract will be reprinted in the conference syllabus.
  2. The designated author who will represent the abstract must register for the conference, and is eligible for the early registration fee. The conference is unable to cover any related costs of attendance.

  • Recognize the issues surrounding team
  • physicians such as ethics, liability and contractual negotiations
  • Distinguish key medical issues that impact the role of the team physician
  • Create a better methodology to document areas of concern and best practices

The registration fee includes all sessions, continental breakfast, breaks and syllabus material for the participant only. A confirmation letter will be sent upon receipt of your registration and payment (no registration is confirmed without full payment).

Registration fees will be refunded minus a cancellation fee of $50.00 until January 9, 2008. No refunds will be made after January 9, 2008. The University of South Florida Office of Continuing Professional Development reserves the right to cancel the course due to unforeseen circumstances. The University of South Florida will not be responsible for travel expenses incurred by the participant in the case of cancellation.
